MIRKO BUSTO
Mirko graduated in Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin (PoliTo) where he started his research career focusing on sustainability assessment.
He applied Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to different fields, such as food productions, waste management, building materials and aerospace, and assisted in LCA lectures at PoliTo. In 2013, he obtained his PhD at the Joint Research Centre (JRC), where he participated in EU funded projects estimating GHG emissions of EU agriculture and assessing the sustainability of mitigation strategies.
From 2013 to 2018 he was Deputy of the Italian Parliament and member the Environment Commission. In his political activity, he was a strong advocate for sustainability and climate change action as well as sustainable diets and agroecology.
He participated in important international summits (COP21, COP22 and CMPCC in Bolivia between others) and gave hundreds of talks in Italy and abroad. He also studied strategic communication with Giorgio Nardone, a former collaborator of Paul Watzlawick.
In more recent years, he worked as a sustainability consultant and policy officer.
